WoW 4.2 PTR: Fireland - So Where is Ragnaros By Mimiron My name is Stan, I am 19 years old. Currently I am studying at a University. I am the founder of the FB group which posted Cataclysm news since 8/23/09. I am playing WoW since the release of Burning Crusade. I like writing articles regarding Cataclysm. The most time I enjoyed playing was high-end TBC - Sunwell Plateau. |
Firelands is the new raid content for Patch 4.2 (and no, there is not ETA for the new Patch yet, since the testing is far from over).
The Firelands entrance is located in Mount Hyjal. The final boss is no other than the Firelord Ragnaros, whom you could see in Molten Core as the final boss.

The Firelands raid will contain outdoor and final bosses. The outdoor bosses are Beth'tilac who is a spider boss. Lord Rhyolith - a magma giant, Alysrazor a firehawk boss and Shannox a flamewalker boss.
Final bosses feature Baleroc
This is the map of Firelands. The zones are Beth'tilac's Lair, Flamebreach, The Molten Fields, Sulfuron Span, Mortal's Menise, Shatterstone, The Ridge of Ancient Flame and Rhyolith Plateau. Thanks to these names you can clearly work out the location of which boss you'll fight where.
A few weeks ago I was doing a PTR testing on boss Rhyolith. I made sure to check out the zone as much in detail as possible, so I could get the screenshots for my articles. Here you can see the Sulfuron Keep entrance, without an activated bridge though. The bridge will appear only when you kill all of the bosses.
Another bridge cutscene of my goblin shadow priest character mounted on an Amani War Bear with Sulfuron Keep in the Background.
The instance itself, looks much like Obsidian Sanctum or even Ruby Sanctum, but is far larger.
All of the mobs were despawned, since Blizzard prefers to test the boss and not the trash. Everything apart from the boss tested has not been activated in the instance.
Upon entering, there was a firehawk flying over, untargetable. Nothing extraordinary, I just wanted to give you the model of the firehawk boss, as well as the new mount you'll be getting from the Firelands meta achievement.
Here you can see the Rhyolith Plateau with the initially tested boss.
Lord Rhyolith located at a plateau carrying his name. On the left, you see a bridge leading to him. Upon entering combat, it will disappear. The encounter isn't that hard, although I wasn't able to find a group which would be capable to kill it, since they were only pretty much, a bunch of premades.
Here you can see the firespider boss area, where you will be fighting Beth'tilac.
Firelands looks promising, though I've got hopes, this area will be cleared in no time and after that there will be a three-month break and more people will get bored, and will start leaving the game.
