Blizzard's veteran MMORPG has been keeping its player base slightly bored after refusing to release any further major content updates in the current Warlords of Draenor expansion.

Many of the well-known guilds have completed the current content long ago, and there really isn't much left to do PvE-wise until Legion kicks off. Was this a good decision to make by Blizzard?

It seems the developer and publisher might have picked the wrong year to keep players waiting for the new expansion, as 2016 is clearly dominated by Asian MMORPG releases so far. We've got so many eagerly awaited titles released this year, that it comes as a surprise that Blizzard did not bring the Legion expansion's launch to the beginning of the year. It slightly feels like the game's player base is still gradually decreasing, and this is not helped by the wave of Asian MMORPGs taking over the western regions. There are of course some hardcore WoW fans who will always remain loyal to it as long as the servers don't shut down for good, but that limited amount will not be enough to keep the game going.

Hopefully, Legion will manage to attract back some of those players who got fed up with waiting for new PvE content to conquer, but what if those who had temporarily left WoW decide to stick with one of the new Asian MMORPGs?

The situation seems slightly dangerous for WoW, because if Legion fails to provide constant updates and satisfying PvE elements for dedicated gamers, MMORPGs like Bless, BDO, B&S and Riders of Icarus might just take over the whole western MMO market leaving little space for domestic ones.

The introduction of the Demon Hunter class was definitely a bright move that can bring back a few Warcraft veterans as long as it doesn't turn out to be like the Death Knight class in WoTLK.

A few years ago, rumors began to circulate about WoW turning into a simplified PvP-focused MMORPG with no further PvE content updates, and I really hope that the current slowed-down update rate is not a foreshadowing of the rumors becoming reality.

I really hope that the true WoW fans will manage to keep the game alive, and remain patient while the next expansion finally gets launched. Blizzard will obviously have a tough time in keeping up with the competition that is highly affected by the flourishing Asian MMORPG industry, but they still have the potential to remain one of the top publishers and developers in the world.
