Pumpkin prices are up, the air is chilly, and little kids will soon be begging for candy. Every Halloween starts like this and with each Halloween that passes with World of Warcraft servers alive and kicking, a new Hallow's End begins as well. For 2011, Hallow's End runs from October 18-31.
Since the Cataclysm, Azeroth looks a bit different and so does the Hallow's End event. Much of the event remains the same but some parts of it are much easier. Achievement hunters or title-lovers will find the event useful for both points and one of the nicer titles available in game. Although completing the necessary achievements will unlock “the Hallowed” title, the focus of this guide is to lead you through what's new with the event and how to participate in it with ease.
Innkeepers' candy buckets
Hallow's End celebrates Halloween in a most traditional and expected way. Players visit innkeepers in game and loot their candy buckets. These pumpkins are located near innkeepers and can be looted once per character. A pumpkin is guaranteed to contain at least 2 Tricky Treats and can contain a wand, a mask, or something else.
Hunters of “the Hallowed” title should note that visiting innkeepers' candy buckets in the Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and Outland is required to receive the title. See Tricks and Treats of Azeroth below under the Obtaining “the Hallowed” title.
Vendor
The new Hallow's End vendors make this event vastly easier than it has ever been. Wands, masks, companions, and even the Hallowed Helm are available for purchase. The currency the vendor accepts is Tricky Treats; candy gotten by doing event related quests and shoving your hand in innkeeper's candy baskets. Horde players can visit their event vendors in the Ruins of Lordaeron above Undercity while Alliance players can their event vendors right outside Stormwind's gates.
The new Hallow's End vendor sells:
